I have a 15 JKU, 2.5" leveling kit, 33s, 3.73s, manual with 38k miles. Recently, in the past month or so, it's been running hotter than normal. Since I purchased it in Dec 14, it's always ran around 215-224* (EVIC). lately, it's been jumping up to 229-235+. Now I know this isn't end of the world hot,but it's noticably hotter than it has ever ...Ok, while I was at the Easter Jeep Safari this year my engine started to randomly idle roughly. My engine normally idles around 675 rpm +/- about 25 rpm. I noticed that the rpm would pick up to about 720 then it suddenly drops off to about 500 rpm and when it does it shakes the whole jeep. this only happens when I'm stopped at stop lights/ …Mine only appears to be running hot after I have been going down the road and have the A/c on. If I turn the A/C off, the temp goes back down after a mile or so. Speed does not seem to matter... only the A/C running. The jeep is a 2004 4.0L 5 speed. My 2013 JK (114,000k) is having issues overheating. Thermostat is not that old (about a year) so I replaced the PCV valve which was toast (and quite a pain in the arse). At idle or even low speeds (45-50) it’s fine. But as speed increases the temp goes up.

It is the optimal temperature for the car. If you run without a thermostat it would not let the car get up to operating temperature for a long while.

If, as you said, it was only the drivers side, then replacing the core didn't do a thing and the issue will likely return.
