durango 2018: intermittent problem with rotary shifter. I noted a minor problem more than once when I went from Park to Reverse and the transmission did no engage and the engine revved while not pulling a trailer. I put it in Drive and then back to Reverse and it would engage and function normally. I subsequently had a major problem.

It's easy to check for fuel issues, however. Simply try the ideal starting procedure (<5 seconds crank), pull a spark plug and check for fuel. Some of the behavior suggests a battery problem and I note you replaced the battery and the engine started and ran a bit but then died.
