So I have gritty fish, 4 pieces cooked and one whole fish. My satchel shows I have those things. I also have all four berries (you need one) to make potent predator bait yet when I go to craft it I'm told I have the berries but not the fish. I have left my fire/camp, set up another one (a few times), tried days later, still nothing.
There are multiple different types of bait in the game. However, the most useful one which you should try to keep on you as much as possible is the potent herbivore bait. While the potent predator bait also has its uses, the full herbivore bait is much more useful for quick cash and a bit harder to craft. It may just be me, but it's worked exactly the same as the regular predator bait when I've used it. In both cases, they've always been three star animals...and using either one I have gotten the same animals over time, from foxes to panthers.
