April 27, 2022 at 7:42 pm. My 2008 Impala keeps reading engine hot/ac off. I’ve already replaced the thermostat, coolant sensor & sensor connector. Flushed the radiator & refilled with dexcool. It was working fine then started getting the engine hot message again. There are no leaks, & no noticeable issues with my water pump.I would recommend to verify that the coolant level is full, if low add and get to a shop that has the proper diagnostic tools to scan the engine controller and determine the problem. Some possibilities could be, leak in system and low coolant causing overheating, fan inoperative, bad temp sensor reporting false data, bad connection or wiring ...the air bubbling in overflow after the engine was shut off gave it away. hope to get at least another 110,000 out of it now . 2005 Impala. ... Since you aren't overheating I don't see any reason not to drive the truck until you get home and can visit the dealer.
