Oct 27, 2007 · Point the gun in a safe direction. Hold the slide firmly in your weak hand. Now slam your strong hand into the back of the grip being sure to depress the grip safety as you do it. Remember the grip safety, if not depressed, will keep an XD locked shut. Hit it several times to free the stuck cartridge from the gun.

Now, upon reassembly, the slide will not go all the way back because the hammer is down. I did not try to push the hammer back in fear of damaging anything. Has anyone experienced the same issue ... Rotated the take down lever until it stopped. Pulled the slide rearward to drop slide stop and allowed it to move slowly forward. Dec 7, 2017 · Sent it in to Ruger and got it back a week later with a new trigger, springs, etc. Take it to the range the second time and it shoots great. A nice gun to shoot. Problem again. A new problem on a brand new gun. Now it's the slide. With the slide locked back, load a mag into the well, the slide releases and loads the chamber all on its own. Ruger replaced the slide stop assembly and now my SR9 appears to be back in perfect working order, but I'm going to be keeping a close eye on it ... I have put around 600 rounds through it so far and have only shot maybe three mags where I didn't experience a misfire. There have been times where in 30 rounds there were 10 misfires. However, loaded it weighs close to 27 ounces, which is quite a bit heavier and some may feel it. But, the weight of the frame, slide, and barrel do contribute to the low recoil and stability so that just about makes up for it.
