Its not very long. Install the jets before you attempt installing the pistons. Those bolts are a special grade bolt too. Do not use a home depot bolt. The engine harmonics will crack the bolts and then you loose a poston of the complete engine because you have no oil pressure.I bought a used 1992 F-350 7.3 idi non-turbo. That is very easy and will tell you if the tire is out or the wheel is bent (much more likely these days). To check the wheel, put the pointer next to the rim while you spin.

I'd guess that the harness at the tank selector is what you'd need to rewire. Determine which pair of wires goes to the sender for the tank that you are going to keep and wire those directly to the sender in that tank.
