It's likely to be a pretty good drive as we're in a little mountain town about 165 miles from the nearest city big enough to have a Walmart.

A hundred years ago Charles Daly guns were as good as any in the world, but in recent years their quality has ranged from OK to garbage, depending on who made them.
My 95 Std Cat. of Firearms lists the Diamond grade O/U, as EXC. $700, VG $625, Good $550, Poor $400, remember those prices are from 1995. And The NRA edition may add some value to the gun. Gander Mtn. has a NRA Diamond edition listed for $899, but then many of the guns they sell are over priced.

If you desire one of the new breeds of short pistol-grip defensive shotguns, the Charles Daly Honcho version is a viable option. Practice is needed for this shotgun, but in 20-gauge, the Honcho offers a viable option. The pump-action 20-gauge, Winchester buckshot, and the H&R line of defensive shotguns are good choices.

IDNR bought 20 Charles Daly's 28 ga semi's for Hunter Safety classes, the guns were well maintained and had to be replaced by 1100's within the first year. Just didn't work and really didn't have to stand the pounding that a good trap gun does in a month in their short tour of duty.
