keep shuffling seeds in the preview until none of the starter ores are mixing together and there's no cliffs on top of them. not being in a desert will also be helpful for managing pollution. it'll take you a while, but you'll find one eventually. I would also add having water surround a great deal of your spawn.I used this guide by the wonderful Nefrums to get the spoon in ~6 hours on near default settings. I don't see any posts about this for 0.18 so figured I would add some contributi…A slightly larger investment in belts and assemblers and inserters is not going to be very important. Michael Hendricks has a No Spoon on Default Settings guide that manages it in 6-8 hours with 45 science/minute for red/green/blue (5/6/12 tier 2 assemblers) with even less for the yellow and purple science at the end.

Just checked my old No Spoon save. I made the resource patches as large/frequent/rich as possible, and made the biters as easy as possible (they still have to be on though). Currently there are quite a few settings to make the enemies easier in a no spoon run and related achievements. These settings are all in the "Advanced settings" tab of "New game".
