We tried changing the tether distance from 1 to 3 on Xbox and it did not change. We were still only allowed to be about 180ish meters apart. You used to be able to put 99 on the original game and basically be on the opposite side of the map but ye it doesn't appear to do anything on Asa. Hopefully it gets fixed.

And as above say; you can't even change it. At least in survival evolved you were able to change the tether length, only ever being teleported when host went into a cave. Just most people today wouldn't notice it because most people's PCs are more than able to handle ARK SE with Tether Distance set to say 99 without too many issues.
