I'd guess that the harness at the tank selector is what you'd need to rewire. Determine which pair of wires goes to the sender for the tank that you are going to keep and wire those directly to the sender in that tank. In the cab you could eliminate the selector switch in the same way. Should be pretty straight forwards IMO.

AFAIK the 7.3's all use the same filter head, with the same fuel heater in it. The 6.9's had a fuel heater on the line between the lift pump and filter head.My 6.9 has a purolator gold 7.3 psd filter on it right now.
