You can pull the wire off the post at the head, and put a test light on the wire and ground it to the engine. no need to drive it or even run the engine, just turn the switch on and the light should light, with the key on. you can run the engine if you like, and rev it up and let off and watch the light, if it lights on ...

Watch oil flow change from top of slave piston housing, when wire is removed or hand is taken off center of solenoid.Just had ECM replaced and now Engine Brake (Jake) does not work. New ECM was programed to show unit has engine brake. Has anyone encountered this situation and most importantly what is the fix. Cummins in Irvine could not get it to work.....suggested going to repair facility that is familiar with Monaco chassis and wiring.
What you think is the brake going through stages at slow speed, is actually the transmission shifting down. A lower gear will drastically increase the braking power from the Jake. If the Jake still does not work right, take it to Oregon Motor Coach or Country Coach.
