I don't play with multi hit but I have some suggestions to balance it. Only long and heavy two-handed weapons or blades coupled with a high strength level. 2 zombies max and no multi push. I feel pushing should be limited to 1 zombie because it looks silly to pushing 3 zombies down with one arm while holding a weapon. 2.

There is a mod for that, it's called multihit limiter. It allows you to toggle what weapons, the strength and fitness you need and the weapon skill needed to activate multi hit. To be fair, short 1-handed weapons aren't that easy to multi-hit, it's actually very hard. I think that's realistic considering their size.Overall, long blunt and axe will be (in my opinion) your general best bet. As u/Fortune_Silver mentioned, Long blades are strong but rare, and spears have a severe lack of durability for a long time.
