John Nichols, longtime Taos resident and author of many books, including "The Milagro Beanfield War," has passed away after battling a long illness, according to his family. He was 83. Nichols was born on July 23, 1940 in Berkeley, California. His mother, Monique Robert, was born in France, and brought up there and in Spain.
