Last week I spent a while shooting my AU along side a used 50# Traverse I picked up and a new Phase 4 33 turned sown to 55#. I gotta say the Phase 4 was surprisingly pleasant to shoot. Both companies are very proud of the bows they make. Hoyt produces compound and recurve bows while Mathews only produces compound bows. If we compare the compound bows; the featured differences are Hoyt has split limbs and hybrid cams; Mathews has solid limbs and a solo cam. The cam systemis the biggest difference.

I’d go with the Hoyt, from my testing, the Hoyt VTM 31 was faster and quieter than all of the bows I tested. Those bows were the VTM 31, Execute 30, Ominia, Era, Carbon One, and SS 34. It was faster by 5-6 fps, and quieter by 4-5 decibels.
