since backstep has no i-frames is it bad or just situational? many enemies will stay locked onto you if you try to dodge an attack too early therefore using the back step in these situation makes no sense and in other situations i can think of i dont see how a simple roll isn't better or if you want retaliation just counter attack after blocking.Honestly the only real reason is that you can get it very early so you can use it until you get bloodhound step.
