The 1300 VTX has lived up to my every expectation, and has provided me a great deal of fun, and memories that will last a lifetime. I just got back from a 4600 mile Adirondack tour and it has put the X over the 100 K mark.Vinish. Virtually any brand of 10w fork oil will be fine. You don't need an expensive type. Cheap Wallyworld 10w fork oil is fine. Be aware that a special tool is needed to disassemble the left fork on an 1800. Also be aware that a special tool or a home-made tool is needed to drive in the fork seals on any VTX.1. Run the engine a few minutes. 2. I looked at the service manual, and all it shows is change the final drive oil every 24,000 miles. It's 100% glycol; either 100% propylene glycol (PG) or a blend of PG and ethylene glycol (EG). Its specific heat capacity is only 80% that of 50/50 EG/water at 212F and its viscosity is 3.3 times higher at that temp. This means that it flows more slowly through your engine AND removes less heat than 50/50 EG/water.
