BG3 on my take is actually more balanced between DEX & STR, due to all the advantages high STR gets in game: Jump Distance. Push. Also most of the best weapons in game are not Finesse. Prior to Patch 5, where a high STR character could throw most enemies, I'd say STR was far ahead of DEX in BG3.

You'll also notice you don't get hit a lot in the backline, often letting you exit combat having your temp hp absorb the one hit you took.
