The e906 has a few dB more sensitivity, and putting the switch in the "flat" setting actually gets that mic pretty close to being flat. If you were just looking for something comparable to a 57, or just using it to mic a guitar rig, it would be hard to justify the extra money for the 900 series.

THe results were hit and miss, often trying to reset my tone controls on all my gear to somehow reach a more pleasing tone.
