xci is a cartridge dump. nsp is an eshop package. This is also the standard format for update files and DLC. Between nsp and xci, there shouldn't be any performance difference. I have seen issues with random xci files, but I'm not sure why those don't work right. Performance is largerly dependent on how well the emus translate the Switch stuff ...
