If you extract 5 patterns of the same gun it can be crafted, meaning if you go to the Relic on Mars (in Savathun's Throne World on the map), you can shape a crafted version of the gun, level it up and eventually choose your own perks for it by going back to the Relic and reshaping it. The above can all be done without the Season Pass. Calus is better because HC are kinda crap in PVE. IMO Zaouli's Bane is a better hand cannon that Calus Mini Tool. An SMG will typically have more utility and fit more play styles and cover more situations than a HC. HC look cooler though. And it's more important to look cool than to function proper.Details.
