The cylinder head bolts are torqued in four steps.1-45 ft-lbs 2-65 ft-lbs 3-65 ft-lbs 4 1/4 additional turn after reaching torque specification. If you have a 1/4"x20 1 inch long bolt it torques to a certain torque. In this case you are screwing a 5/16" bolt into aluminum. It tightens about 2 fingers on a 3/8" ratchets worth. The sump bolts are 1/4"x20. They go 1 fingers worth.
