Most ironman uses it because the only upkeep is crystal shards instead of ammo costs. It is definitely sufficiently good as I can get a <1 min kill with bowfa only rigour serp helm and thralls.
Use a rune crossbow with diamond (e) bolts and grab a crystal shield. Most of the damage you take at zulrah is from the blue form ranging you (which crystal shield has really high ranged defence) and from the snakelings (recoil damage kills them). Zulrah is fantastic with thralls. Just bring a blowpipe to spec for health and slap it with the quickness. Solo bandos/zammy is good gp but pretty sweaty with the method you use to kite them, if you're up for a challenge learning that could be good though. Zulrah kills per trip with a tbow. So I recently just started a Tbow rebuild a few days ago. Been doing bosses like zulrah and sara to make some GP back. I have blessed dhide, anguish and serp helm with max combat stats. I can get anywhere from 3-5 kills per trip with sharks, Karams, and a few anglers with bastion pots.
