I'm a big fan of the Model 77, but I have somewhere less than zero interest in the Scout version. The Ruger weighs in at 7.3 lbs in .308, while the T3x Lite in the same chambering weighs in at 6.4 lbs; the Ruger has a non-adjustable trigger that can be made good with some massaging, while the Tikka has an adjustable trigger.

I don't think you can go wrong with either rifle. My choice would depend on my budget. I would choose the Tikka if I had the cash reserved to top it with decent glass. But, if it would only leave me with Barska quality optics to mount on the Tikka I would choose the American and put better glass on it.
