EDIT / UPDATE What we know is this is mostly AT&T Internet customers that are affected. After 3 days Square-Enix has finally stated they are aware of the problem and working to get it fixed. Comcast and TWC are basically the same. This lag is a problem that comes up every couple months and lasts for a week or two so strap in. This problem only effects FFXIV so even if you are getting a great connection on other games you will have FFXIV lag.
GPU problem - Goes from 100% to 30% and back. EDIT 2: The problem has been fixed! After having a close look at thermals, I noticed that the temperature skyrocketed , resulting the GPU and CPU throttling power in order to cool down. After opening up the laptop, I noticed that BOTH fans were gunked up with cat hair.The fact that people are reporting being able to get around the lag with a VPN suggests its not an issue with FFXIV servers but more nodes between you and the servers. Thus if you reroute your traffic you can potentially bypass the problematic nodes.
