Im more curious as to how the Air Gap vs RPM work on a motor that makes peak power at 5500 to 6000 versus the same motor with a EPS or Performer on it. I believe that since you don't plan on driving this a lot, that you should consider the 454. More money without question, but you get what you pay for. The difference between the two is very noticable, the 454 will always have more low end. As long as you can gasket for .040 piston to head, the actual deck clearance won't effect your compression ration.
