The easiest swap out, would be a 90-93 300SL Engine Swap. It is the newer 24valve m104 engine. Its a 3.0, 7000rpm limit, and 228hp, 201 lb.ft. torque using the old KE Elctro-Mechanical Fuel Injection like that used on the older m103 Inline 6. If you had everything from the brain, to the engine, this would work.
